How do I check if ports are blocked or not

Hi All, 
 I'm not a network eng. so please be patient. 
 We have a 2x virtual UTM 9s recently upgraded to the latest firmware ( 9.711-5.1 ) and wanted to know if there is a way to check or manage ports through the web portal. So basically where we can check if ports are open/closed, etc. 
 We're trying to check if a specific port used by an application has been automatically allowed after the upgrade. 
 Any other info please let me know.

You can use ShieldsUP! as a resource to check ports, I've used Steve's site for years.
