Pattern Update Not Working

Hi all,

 

I've searched for this all over and I can't find a useful answer.  I can't update my pattern even though my firmware is updated.

I also tried this:



This thread was automatically locked due to age.
  • That's completely normal.  Patterns are not downloaded if you've not selected to have AV, Application Control or IPS use the new patterns.  My lab machine shows:

    Current pattern version:        122613

    Latest available pattern version:        123185

  • Wait, so no one with a free version of this OS can perform pattern updates?

  • Hi Ashkaan,

    You will have the pattern updates on every OS, it is not machine dependent but it will be configurations dependent.

    Here Bob is correct and what he wants to convey is, what patterns are downloaded is dependent on your settings and hardware configuration. For example, if you do not use the intrusion prevention feature of Sophos UTM, newly available IPS patterns will not be installed, thus increasing the divergence between the currently installed and the latest available pattern version.

  • I have the free edition and mine updates, though one day recently no updates loaded which surprised me.

    I do find yesterday's update count a bit low, only 5 updates out of 100. Some days the update count is 20 out of 70 or so.

    I have a large feature count enabled and there is room for more features to be enabled. A future project or two.

  • You're not paying attention.  You can see by my signature block that we're a Sophos Partner and that I'm a Sophos Certified Architect.  We have a full license, not a free, home-use license.

  • Sorry, what did I not pay attention to?  You mentioned 3x features that home users cannot enable.

    rfcat_vk seems to have updates working.  rfcat_vk, what feature have you enabled that causes the definitions to update?

  • I have the home edition and I can't enable any of those features.  How can I troubleshoot?

  • The only feature you cannot enable with a home license is 'Sophos Sandstorm' which isn't automatically included in a 'Full Guard' license, too.

    And there are some customizations that you cannot do like changing the message templates, logo. Nothing to worry about.

    In the customization menu it should say 'Licensing Info - This page is disabled as you only have a Home User License!' but every other feature except sandstorm is usable.

    What does your dashboard say about your license? Is there eventually only 'Base Functionality' under subscriptions? Then it is an appliance without any license, but you can create a Home license in myutm.

    Available subscriptions with a 'Home license' installed:

    • Base Functionality
    • Email Protection
    • Network Protection
    • Web Protection
    • Webserver Protection
    • Wireless Protection
    • Endpoint AntiVirus
