Custom Report returns no results

The custom reports when I try to run them always return no records found. I am running SFOS 16.05.7 MR-7. As you see in the screen shot below I have data to report on, for this example I used 9-5-17 through 9-6-17.

But when I run a custom report I get this. I am clicking the generate button.

I have checked an on box reporting is enabled.

What am I missing?

  • Hi

Looking at your second image of the Customer Reports page, you have left the Domain and User Name fields blank. You would need to fill these out in order to generate relevant data on your report. You can adjust these fields and select a ‘Group’ instead of a ‘User’ or search by ‘IP Address’ or ‘Category’ instead of a Domain. Thanks.

  • HI Karlos,

I have tried many time with an IP address, without an IP address, with a domain name, without a domain name and always get no records found.

  • Hi Karlos,

on my XGs I get the report generated without filling in those fields.

On the upgrade one and the one built with the latest ISO.

  • Hi Ian,

How do you run the daily reports? I see nothing listed in the reports section called daily reports.

  • Hi Kevin,

in the reports page there "Show Reports Settings" tab. In there you setup your custom report views you want mailed to you.

  • Hi Ian,

I scheduled a User App Risks & Usage report to report on Source Zones, Destination Zones, and Hosts. All 3 reports contained data.

    This is the Hosts reports.

  • 1. Could you check the report disk space, particularly the /var partition on the console of XG:

     console> system diagnostics show disk

    2. Please check the following services are running (advanced shell):

    service –S

    postgres RUNNING

    reportdb RUNNING

    garner RUNNING

    3. Ensure logging is enabled on your firewall rules for outbound traffic

    4. Lastly, verify that the FW rule does not have any Filters set to NONE. Reason is that when any filter is configured as NONE the proxy is bypassed. If the proxy’s bypassed then there will be no categorization and as a result no logging.

  • Hi Karlos,

    1. The disk usage report.

    2. The command service is unknown.

    3. The is currently only one rule (the default networking rule the system creates on install. It is configured to log traffic.

    4. The firewall rule shows no options for filtering.

  • Hi Kevin,

For the second command I sent you, this must be entered in the Advanced Shell (option 5 then option 3)

Also, for my fourth request, all the filters can be located in the Advanced settings section. Specifically, in the section that says Web Policy. If it is "none", instead choose "Allow All"

    Thanks!

  • Hi Karlos,

Sorry, I missed the advanced shell part. The postgres, reportdb, and garner services are running.

The web policy setting was set to none and I have changed it to Allow ALL. So far I'm still getting no result returned on my reports.

    Update-

The custom reports are now working. It looks like setting the Web Policy to Allow All has corrected the issue.

    I would recommend a few things;

    1. A detailed reports guide. I know off of your support site it says Coming Soon, to really be helpful it should cover topics like this that will prevent reports from working.

    2. It may be better to change the default web policy from none to Allow All as it stops custom reports from running.
