Hello and thanks for reading!
I've not had to configure BGP before so forgive my ignorance here.
I'm configuring a Sophos XGS 4500 HA pair for use in our main office. Our ISP requires BGP be configured, which I believe I have done using this Sophos support document: Sophos Firewall: Configure BGP
My questions are:
1. Once the routes are added into BGP I no longer need to add them into the Static Route area, correct?
2. The support document example uses one ISP for the Main office and Branch office to allow network traffic between the two sites. Can this still be accomplished if each site has a different ISP?
3. Could BGP be used to eliminate the need for a VPN tunnel? If so, is this traffic encrypted in any way? Currently we have a Branch office with a VPN tunnel connecting to the Main office. The primary concern being drive mappings to file servers located at the main office and Wi-Fi (wi-fi controllers for the branch office are located in the main office).
Thanks!
