Web Admin Logs out Despite "Logout admin session after" being Unchecked.

When I'm using the web admin gui,  I get logged out periodically, anywhere from an hour or so to several hours, even though I don't have "Logout admin session after" checked.  Sometimes it doesn't log out at all, which is what I want.

How can I prevent the automatic logout?

I'm on an XG-125w with 19.0.1 MR-1-Build365 and this issue has happened back to 18.0.

Thanks.

  • i think there is no option. I have the same behaviour at my lab and home installation.

I think with box unchecked we have some default. (we are on a security-device)

You can set the logout-time to max 120 minutes.

  • It's crazy. On Friday I stayed logged in for over eight hours.  Yesterday, it was an hour.  I'd like it to stay logged in as I am trying to do a packet capture on a device that sends traffic at a random times once or twice a day.

  • Hi Brian1941

I wish too, I could stay login on Sophos GUI, whenever I want to see traffic flow with packet capture without typing the password! even though settings under System -->administration -->admin and user settings for login security are disabled. As it is my lab environment and no other option to stay login for a long time I have saved the Sophos XG password on Google Chrome(not recommended), so if I got logout I just click login and I am into the GUI.

  • Hi, that's what I do too, but the device transmits at random times, so I really can't be sitting here 24 hours a day waiting for it.

  • Possible a packet capture (TCPDUMP) using SSH is the better way.

From running SSH session we have no timeout ... i think.

Also a "tail -f" to the packetfilter log is possible from here.
