Sophos XG 125w - 5G Wifi not working

The default setting when running the wizard is it sets the wifi to 2.4 and 5G. That's what it's currently on.

When I try to set it to 5G only, or create a 5G only SSID, I get that error message.

My apologies I realised I wrote the wrong model on my original post. I have a Sophos XG 125w (not 115w). (Topic fixed)

Looking at the Sophos specs sheet, this model supports 5G wifi: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0833/9365/files/Sophos_XG125135Datasheet.pdf

So, 5G wifi should work on this model right?

not according to the error message and I still think it is one or the other but not both.

Is this business or home installation because from memory the home version does not support the onboard wifi, I will stand corrected if someone has better knowledge.

Hello,

Could you try to create your WIFI network in the "Wireless Networks" tab, selecting "2.4 Ghz and 5Ghz" frequency band, then go to the "access point" tab, and selecting the "LocalWifi0" access point (which is the internal XG wifi card), add your wireless network created in the precedent step, then select the 5Ghz band in the bottom of this tab.

And it should work.

is Single Radio. You can only use 5G or 2.4G.

Thanks for your help, I think I got somewhere. In the end deleted all of the wireless networks and started from scratch as the default one created by the wizard was just giving an error when trying to select 5G only.

I then created a new wifi network from scratch with only 5G selected and this let me save and clients are now correctly connecting with 5G. Success!

However, with the 5G SSID linked to the default "LocalWifi0" AP, I get an error when trying to include a 2.4Ghz SSID. I also don't get an option to create a second AP that I could use to assign with a 2.4Ghz SSID.

So, is this the limitation of the wifi in the XG 125w that you guys were talking about, whereby you can't have both 5G and 2.4Ghz running at the same time? Or should I be able to create a 2nd AP and have both 5G and 2.4G running at the same time?

Hi Aaron,

you can have a number of SSIDs as long as they are on 2.4ghz or 5ghz, not both. You need another external AP to provide 2,4ghz.
