I have the mobile Free Antivirus and Security application set up on three Android phones. Due to the limited memory of two of them I have had to root those phones and move the Sophos app to the SD card using the app2sd method.
All works OK and I have the Loss & Theft feature enabled. However, if either phone is rebooted I find that feature has been disabled because the app is no longer a device administrator. I have to re-enable that feature manually.
Is there any way this setting can be made to survive reboots or is it simply a side-effect of moving the app to the SD card? Given the amount of memory this app requires, it's not practical to move it back to the phone memory.
That's a bit short-sighted, if you don't mind me saying so. Given the amount of memory this app requires, this is a significant problem with older phones.
Hello,
we decided to to not support this. so that an attacker could not disable SMSec including the app protection by simply removing the SD-Card.
