"App data integrity corruption"

My Nexus 5, Android 5.1, phone just displayed the alert "App data integrity corruption" and continued with the message "some data in the storage of the app "security" might have been tamerped with." It went on to give me the choice to 'uninstall' or 'reset data'.

Is this a normal alert from Android? I went ahead and uninstalled the app and then reinstalled Sophos Mobile Security from the Google Play Store. Was this the right thing to do?
