SOPHOS Mobile Security

We are deploying Samsung Galaxy 10s running Android 4.4.4 and cannot seem to get the Web Filtering aspect to work. Even with "Adult" being blocked, I can still surf to playboy.com. I tested with my Android phone running 5.1 and it worked - well it was blocked.

Is this a version issue with the device not being compatible with the app? Has anyone come across this and have a solution.

We would like to be able to impede users ability to surf to unwanted sites while off on the job site.

Thank you for your help.

  • Hello,

the WebFilter only works with Chrome and the Stock Android Browser.

So if the device (I could not find any information about an "Samsung Galaxy 10s") uses another browser or the user installs another one, the WebFilter will not work.

    Regards
    Thomas

  • Thank you for the response.

The tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 and the default browser is Chrome. We did try installing different browsers (FireFox) and another just called Browser, and while it did work while using the "Browser" one, that one had ads. FireFox did not work either.

    Thanks for your help.

  • ***UPDATE***

We updated Chrome this morning and Web Filter is now working. I am not sure if this udpate was released yesterday after we checked, or this morning but Chrome is now being filtered.

    Thank you for your assistance
