SMC 6.0.5 cannot enroll iOS 9.2.1 devices

I have setup SMC 6.0.5 (rev 5423) server.  I can enroll and manage Android devices.

Today I obtained and installed Apple Push Certificate and tried to enroll iOS devices.

First problem:

I downloaded Sophos Mobile Control app on and iPhone 6 Plus (iOS 9.2.1).  I launched SMC app and chose to enroll using QR code from the self-service portal.  The camera came up but would not recognize the QR code on my laptop screen.  This process was instant on Andriod phones.  The only thing I can do on the iPhone was tap "Cancel" to close the camera.

I experienced the same symptom using iPad Mini.

Second problem:

I tried enrolling manually by entering the Token, Server URL, Email.  When I tap "Connect", the app would crash and close.

When I reopened the app, it would state that the synchronization failed and the device is no long managed by the SMC server.  The record for this device was created on the SMC server but some information is incorrect.  Model was shown as "Android device"  Operating system was shown as "Android".  However, in the Device properties" section, ModelName was "iPhone" and OSVersion was "9.2.1" and smc_app.version was "6.0.2.2", which were all correct.

Has anyone experienced this problem?  How should I proceed with diagnosing this?

Thank you,

Chutikorn

  • Hi Chutikorn,

to me this sounds as if you only have enabled the platform "Android" within your Self Service Portal Group settings.
Please check the "Group settings" tab at "Setup | Self Service Portal" and make sure an initial package is configured and the "iOS" platform is activated.
Make sure to save the changes.

    Best regards
