Loss & Theft on Galaxy S5

When setting up the LOss & THeft feature on the Galaxy S5 it does not recognise that the Lock Screen is set with a PIN. The first time I wne through the app, setting and confirming the PIN soemhow I got locked out of my phone (and had not set it up on Android Device yet) and had to do a factory reset.

  • Any comments on this? Is it expected behaviour? Is there a 'fix'?

  • Hi Simon,

I forwarded your issue to our development team to check how we can handle this.

This is of course not the way it should work.

    Best regards

  • Was there anymore feedback on this? If no resolution will have to switch the lock and wipe function to the Samsung product, which I do not want to do.

Not normally this hard to get follow up from SOPHOS!

  • Hi Simon,

    sorry for the late reply.
We were able to reproduce the behavior that the lock screen was not recognized correctly by Sophos Mobile Security.

This will be fixed in an update of the app planned for mid may.
But on all test devices we were never locked out as you described it.

If you set up a PIN for your device via Sophos Mobile Security you will always be redirected to the settings the operating system provides. Therefore, setting up a PIN should not lock you out from your device.

    Best regards

    Stefan
