App verification function is blocking all my apps as well as "Settings" on my phone... very urgent

Hi

I clicked on the protect app function earlier by mistake and now Sophos demands a password every time I want to access not only most of my apps but also the "settings" function which would allow me to do a factory reset of my phone.

When I click on forgotten password, it asks for a recovery password which I don't have and a password which I don't have either. I am always very good at noting down passwords etc so would have done it when I installed this software. But I have no record of a password or of a recovery password.

What do I do as my phone is a real lifeline for me as I have disabilities and cannot function without it.

I have a Mororola G.

This is really urgent.... Please help....

Many thanks

Anna

  • Hello,

the password for the app protection is set when activating the function.

In case somebody forgets the password there is the option to send the recovery password via email during the setup. If you de-selected that, then there is no recovery password.

There is no way Sophos can go around the password protection and unlock the app protection without either the password or a recovery password.

The Settings are protected, because otherwise Sophos Mobile Security could be uninstalled very easily and the app protection would be gone as well.

The only way to get full access to the phone without the password and the recovery password is to do a factory reset. Normally this can be done by pressing some kind of hardware button combinations. Please see the manual of for specific device for instructions.

    Regards
    Thomas

  • I like the option of a full scan every day but it would be nice if we could set a time for it to do so such as 3am when I know my phone will be a charger and I'm asleep or better yet just an option to only allow the scheduled scans to occur when plugged in and above 25% battery would be great.
