SMC enrollment and Apple Configurator

Question

OK, so I now have the SMC set up and can enroll devices through the SSP manually :-)

Now I am looking to see if there is an easier way to do this, as I will shortly have 70+ iPads to deploy in a short time scale.

I am experimenting with Apple Configurator and can see how to export profiles from SMC and import to configurator so that email, wifi, password settings etc could be installed to e new iPad rather than manually setting up ready to connect to SSP

But is it possible to do the same with an enrollment profile as seems to be the case with some other MDM solutions, so that I can push the SMC profile, app, configuration etc to the new device as it is set up rather than setting it up first and then manually connecting to SSP to enroll?

If anyone has any suggestions (or even better any documentation) on how best to streamline the whole provisioning process I would be very grateful

I'm sure that I am not the first person to want to use SMC to deploy multiple IOS devices, so please let me know how you did it

Hi Dave,

I know that Apple planned a streamlined enrollment but could not find any information on this topic in the current release of the Apple Configurator. Nevertheless, SMC does not support any streamlined enrollment process.

Exporting some kind of "SMC base profile" is not possible as each enrollment profile contains device specific information.

For the moment you either have to register them yourself or your users should use the Self Service Portal to register them on their own.
