Upgrade Sophos Mobile Control to 4.0.0.4

Hi,

i'm trying to update my Sophos Mobile Control Server from version 3.6 to version 4.0.0.4. But it appears one problem. The setup doesn't recognize that there is allready a version running. When i run the system property check i get an error in the point "The HTTP/HTTPS Ports 80 and 443 are available on this server". But they must be available because the old version is running. When i stop the two SMC-Services, the check ends with no error. But after that the setup wants to start a new installation.

Why is there a failure in the update process?

Best Regards

Robby

  • Hi Robby,

    this sounds strange.
Normally, the SMC setup detects an existing installation and first asks you to stop the SMC service which is necessary.

The behavior you describe is definitely not normal and I highly recommend to stop any trial & error on this.

Please open a support request so we can have a look at that.

When opening the support case, please also send us a copy of the SMC log files located in %MDM_HOME%\jboss\server\mdm\log.

    Thanks!

    Stefan

  • Upgrade worked fine for me, took 5 minutes. What about the EAS-Proxy? There is no update for that?

P.S. My first impression: 4.0.0.4 is not so responsive, it's a bit slower.

  • From Sophos-Support i got this solution:

    1. Open a registry editor and go to the hive 'HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sophos\Sophos Mobile Control'
Note: If you are running Sophos Mobile Control on a 32 bit Operating system the hive would be 'HKLM\SOFTWARE\Sophos\Sophos Mobile Control'
    2. Change the value of 'Version' from '4.x' to '3.6.0.5'
    3. Close the registry editor
    4. Open the file 'mdmisconfigured.cfg' located at %MDM_HOME%\tools\Wizard\ using notepad
    5. Change every '0' to '1' and save the file.
    6. Start the SMC setup again.

Worked good for me, now everything is up to date.
