how to provision devices with external user source in an on premise installation

Hi everyone,

Im totally stuck :(

I have setup sophos mobile control on a on premise server. I have created a superadmin account and with the superadmin account i created a new customer for my company. Ive set the user up so that the self service portal uses an external (MS AD) user source.

But im totally clueless on what to do next.

I should be able to just grab any android or iphone device, visit the self service portal url (in my case mdm.schagen.nl) and provision it. But it wants me to log in. But since i have external user source i cant login. I figured, hey i have AD user source via LDAP so i should be able to login with the one user his credentials who are in the group i entered in setup.

This, alas, is not the case.

Also, the manual says i should enable the user tab for my customer, but this option is not available. I figure this is because I use an external user source? Am i doing something wrong here or what? The manual doesnt seem to cover this very thorougly

Someone PLEASE PLEASE tell me: how does the self service portal provisioning of devices work when you use the setup i described. Its almost done and its friday and i want to go home and drink a beer :*(

Any help whatsoever is GREATLY appreciated

Greetings Marijn

  • Hello,

yes, you should be able to log on using the domain credentials of a user beeing in the SSP

Did you try domain\user and jsut the user?

It would be best to open a support ticket, so Support can look at the logfiles and configuration. something seems to be broken in the ldap connection.

    Regards
