How to uninstall Sophos Security on Android? System settings needs a password I don't remember.

Open 'Device Administrators'.
Clear the checkbox for 'Sophos Security'.

    according to your description it seems as if you have configured an app protection password.
    The password you have to enter here is the same as the one you have to enter when trying to change settings within Sophos Mobile Security. If you don't remember the password and you haven't configured a recovery password, the only way to uninstall the application would be a factory reset.

  • I have a similar problem as JoeO'Laughlin and see Sophos Staff answer below. I started decrypt storage and was asked for password but I can't remember/don't know and am now stuck at a place where it says 'type password to decrypt storage'. I would try factory reset but can't get out of where I am. Any help would be greatly appreciated as Sophos Support on Twitter says there is no backdoor or reset from their end!!!

    If you want to do a factory reset there is always a way to do this using the hardware buttons of the device.
    Please see the manual of the specific device on how to do this.

  • Could not access settings, as Sophos app kept asking for a password I never entered!! My solution:
    Turn OFF your device and remove the SIM card.
    1) reboot your device in Safe Mode (search steps for your device on the web)
    2) when in Safe Mode, access Settings
    3) look for "reset to manufacturer specifications" or similar wording and activate.
    4) all customized configs and downloaded apps will be deleted (including defective Sophos app)
    5) follow instructions & reboot normally
    6) re-customize your device.

    Hope it works for you as well.
