Allow other windows user to open the shared folder

Hello,

I can open the shared folder with this path:

\\myserver\sophosupdate\CIDs\S000\SAVSCFXP\

So that's the path where I can install the Endpoint software. I wish to grant an non-admin user access, so that the people who install the software don't have admin access to my server.

Thanks for any help!

  • Hello Markus W,

    a non-admin user
non-admin pertaining to the server. The user from the updating policy (by default aka SUM user) does have read access.
Actually this isn't a Sophos question but Windows sharing, it's just a shared folder like any other. Depends among other things on whether workgroup or AD environment, whether you want allow guest access and so on. If you're in a workgroup environment, don't want to allow anonymous access, and are disinclined to give out shared credentials you could create a package (but then you'd have to make the package available somehow, so this only shifts the problem).
