  • Do you have under:
    C:\windows\inf\

    the setup api logs?

Can you search in those ( I can't recall which one off the top of my head) for SDCFILTER.INF.  You should be able to see the creation of the sdcfilter.sys file under \windows\system32\drivers from the inf and then the attempt to create the service etc..  Are there any meaningful errors in there that correspond to the install failure of this driver?

    Regards,

    Jak

  • Sorry for the delay, I see this in logs.

    >>> [SetupInstallServicesFromInfSectionEx - DefaultInstall.Services] >>> Section start 2017/07/09 17:23:27.249 cmd: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sophos\Sophos Anti-Virus\NATIVE.EXE" /lhi "C:\ProgramData\Sophos\AutoUpdate\cache\savxp\drivers\sdcfilter\win7_amd64\SDCFILTER.INF" !!! dvi: Add Service: Failed to create service 'sdcfilter'. !!! dvi: Error 1072: The specified service has been marked for deletion. !!! inf: {Install Inf Section [DefaultInstall.Services] exit(0x00000430)} !!! inf: Error 1072: The specified service has been marked for deletion. !!! dvi: Error while installing services. !!! dvi: Error 1072: The specified service has been marked for deletion. <<< Section end 2017/07/09 17:23:27.264 <<< [Exit status: FAILURE(0x00000430)]

  • If the service has been marked for deletion you will need to reboot and the next install attempt should succeed or at least not fail for this issue.

I would expect that after the reboot.

If you look in Regiedit under:

    HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\services\

sdcfilter will exist before the reboot and should be gone after.

    If not, try:

    sc delete sdcfilter

    Jak

  • That did the trick.

    Worked after reboot.
