Policy Priority

Everyone,

I have a question that I can’t seem to find the answer to online, so I wanted to ask the group.

In Sophos Central -> Managed Protection; you have the option form People or Computers. My question is, who/what has the higher priority when it comes to applied policies, the people or computers?

Example, if a user in User_Group-A has a policy applied to them which allows http traffic, but the computer he/she is in logging into, let say Computer-Group-B is not allowed to access http traffic, which policy will be applied?

  • Not 100% sure but in most cases the most restrictive takes precedence. Hopefully others can offer some insight back this up.

  • Hello KFSEC,

you've joined several groups, unfortunately not the one needed to move your post.
I know, Endpoint is a little bit ambiguous but this group is more for the on-premise (SEC) managed product line. And I'm amazed that quite a lot of posts specifically mentioning Central end up here - and not in the Central forum group ... .
