Does Sophos AV for Linux use kernel hooks?

Morning,

I just installed Sophos Anti-Virus for linux on my RHEL7 server.

the verbiage at the end of the install leads me to think that SAV is using kernel hooks? is that the case?

Im using the install/startup guide, but it mentions nothing along the lines of hooks.
