Hi.
I believe im battling malware at the moment, still waiting on the x64vista forum tech's to reply to my post.
Having spent many hours doing various different cleanup techniques i discovered sophos, and have come to relise how good it is, how responsive the team here is and basically that it seems to be the industry standard.
Not long after installing i seem to have lost my privileges to run it, im on x64 vista if there is a way to reset it.
thank you
Hi AusDyna
Is this on the desktop or in the console that you no longer have privs?
If it is the client, there are 4 sophos groups, ensure your user account is in the SophosAdministrators group to be able to configure all the settings and cleanup options in the quarantine.
(If you have tamper protection enabled, you will need to authenticate the user before config changes are available)
In the console, Ensure the user you have logged in with is part of the Sophos Console administrators group and Sophos Full Administrators group.
If you have more information on the query we can provide specific solutions.
Kind Regards - C
Hi thank you for the reply.
I am trying to open Sophos Endpoint Security and Control, Via the icon in my task bar and also from the start menu.
My account is the only account active on this fresh partition, with full administrator rights but it's telling me i don't have the access to open it.
Will continue to scope the Q&A + Forums for possible solutions, if i find it myself will be sure to let you know the problems solved, otherwise i would appreciate all the help i can get.
If this is malware on my computer, pretty sure its loading in safemode as well, can't proceed to more removal techniques without access to sophos.
Thank you =)
Hi AusDyna
Thanks for the update,
If your user account is in all four of the local sophos groups, try the following:
Open a command prompt and type the following command:
msiexec.exe /i "c:\ProgramData\Sophos\AutoUpdate\cache\savxp\Sophos Anti-Virus.msi" REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=voums UPDATEDRIVERS=0 /l*v c:\msi.log /qb
The above commands should be on one line.
After the above is complete, and the machines has updated.
Log off and log back on. Try open Sophos.
:)
