Installation retry weirdness with AD Sync

I'm seeing errors reported for a couple of devices saying that the EC failed to protect computer... but the computer in question already has sophos installed and I can see in the log that it is updating frequently?!?  The installation error is 0000002e but why is it retrying the installation if SEC is already installed on the client and apparently working?

EC Console 4.5.0.9 on win 2003 SE SP2, client WinXP SP3.

Any advice?

Thanks

James.

  • Hello James

Last time I tried AD sync was during the SEC3.0 Beta. suggests that SEC does not retry the install (there's no answer to my post where I mentioned that the Beta did retry). I'm just running a few tests on 4.5 and the 4.7 Beta but time's short.

Are you sure it retries? Does SEC show that SESC is installed or is the client's status blank? If the latter then it's very likely that there's a problem with RMS - i.e. the client doesn't report back (for whatever reasons). Check the Network Communications Report and also have a look at the client's Router logs.

[Edit:] It is not the case that a duplicate name appeared in the \Unassigned group, is it?
