Enterprise Console 4.5.1 crashed

Dear fellow Sophosian :robotvery-happy:

I have a WIndows 2008R2 Standard with Enterprise Console v4.5.1, with almost 200 or more child SUMs in the update manager list, each time I try to configure one of the child SUMs, the console crashed and need to reconnect, after I reconnected the console was up again but the problem I mentioned repeated.

Anybody here have experienced it ?

BTW in the eventviewer the error code was 0x00000005

  • Hi,

Do you have the stack trace when it happens?  It should create a file or files in the log directory of the management service under application data.  E.g.

    \ProgramData\Sophos\Sophos Endpoint Management\4.5\log\

If you reproduce it again, can you paste here the contents of the files created in the above directory when it crashes?

Also, is there an entry or entries in the Application Event log when this happens?  If so what is the error text of those?

Does the Sophos Management service restart when this takes place, it sounds like the management service underneath the Enterprise Console is having problems and therefore the console offers a reconnect option.  Checking the PID of the mgntsvc.exe process would be one way of determining this as would checking the system event log for SCM messages.

    Thanks,

    Jak
