I performed some Microsoft updates on a Windows 2000 Server, and recently noticed that now my backup software (particularly my Backup Exec Server service) and anti-virus software (don't know which version of Sophos because I cannot open it) will not start. I don't know if the updates caused the issue for certain. When I try to open Sophos, I get an error:
SAVMain.exe - Application Error: The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000022). Click on OK to terminate the application.
In my event logs, I find some references to Mal/EncPk-MK. Does that mean I have some malware on the machine?

The removal procedure says to start by opening Sophos, but I cannot do that.
Ultimately, the issue is that I cannot open my anti-virus or backup software, but there MAY be a piece of malware involved, but unsure if the issues are related. Also may be related to updates from Microsoft.
Any ideas?
