Sophos for Home use

I see that the license agreement for Sophos allows home use for the Endpoint Security program.  I have downloaded the standalone installer package.  My questions is on updates.  In the license agreement it mentions "Under the terms of your licence agreement, any of your end-users who install Sophos software on their home computers must update from your network".

Does this mean that we have to setup our web server to give out updates?  Or can we still point our home use clients to the Sophos update server and just give the users the EM username/password?

  • Hello tchrist,

I'm not Sophos, I'm not a lawyer and I won't suggest something which could rouse a combination of these two :smileywink:

A license agreement is a license agreement and there's the letter and the spirit. I'd say that the spirit requires you to set up a WebCID for any significant number of home users but he'd be vague when it comes to defining an exact value for significant

FWIW: Personally I wouldn't give out the cleartext EM credentials
