Credentials on anonymous web cid

Hi all,

I have an issue trying to install 9.5 clients from the EC4.5.

Updating policy is set in http anonymous for the Primary server and UNC (all permissions ok) for the inital install.

Issue is that when launching a 'Protect computer' on a machine, it fails.

If I add a credential on the policy for the primary server, it works.

Can someone explain me why I need this account whereas anonymous is set, clients can access UNC and HTTP if I try localy...

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Xt,

As you may have guessed by now, the Primary Server credentials are also used for the Initial Install Source.

However, even if you add them to the Primary Server tab, they're not used with the Primary Server unless it actually requests them. (That is, the HTTP server would have to return a 401 to request credentials before AutoUpdate would try to use them.)

Keep in mind that the credentials are stored locally on all endpoints, so it's important to choose an account that has somewhat limited access.

    Kindest regards,
    Tyler
