I am trying to parse information out of a sophos log file using a third party utility. However the sophos log file is in Unicode format. Is there a way to configure Sopho so the log files are in ASCII format?

What exactly you are trying to do with log files, Are you planning to use the third party tool to look for a specific type of log.?
If your third party tool is capable of processing SNMP traps, then the same can be configured.
