Always display differs from policy.

I have two machines that are slow to respond if at all to my Endpoint server(4.5).

They display differs from policy not matter what I do and I feel they may not be recieving updates.

These are 32bit win 7 machines running 9.5.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, rebooted, tried a new policy on them, and tried this recommended by support.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/246183

Is there a regclean utility for sophos and a way to remove them from the server database.

I feel a clean start would fix them but I'm trying not to image the workstations.

Thanks

  • Hello macook,

differs from policy means that the client has determined that it uses settings different from those requested by SEC. The first question is: which policy differs (this is not to second-guess support). There's a good chance that starting from scratch will resolve the issue - but it could as well be that an error has been made previously which would be repeated.

Don't think that the registry is involved (I don't rule it out completely), if you un-/reinstall delete the \Sophos folders from %ProgramFiles% and %ProgramData%. But again - which policy differs?

  • It's the block malicious websites portion of the policy. It cannot be started on these machines.
