Whilst trying to upgrade Sophos Enterprise Console 3 to 4.0 the sql server upgrade failed from MSDE 2000 to SQL server 2005. There seems to be a problem with the SID of the SQL server instance now so I cant seem to upgrade the instance. Rather than possibly trying to troubleshoot the sql server problems I was wondering if it would be better to do a fresh install? Unless there are any other recommendation/ advice that I might need to be aware of.
Thanks for any help.
Hi,
The following article might help you:

The idea being that with a backup of the database (sophos3.bak), you can effectively install SQL Express, in the above case SQL Express 2005 and then just restore the backed up database into it.
You can either create a new SQL instance name, or remove the current MSDE one and re-create one with SQL Express of the same name. Creating one of the same name will save having to update the registry keys to point the Sophos Management Service at the new instance.
Whatever way you do it, it is worth checking that the SEC3 installation still works having configured the new SQL Express instance before upgrading to SEC 4.
To find your current instance name please see:
