ManagementNT.exe process sucking up 99% CPU

The past week, we have had numerous users complain of extremely slow performance on their workstations. Each one of these complaints, after investigation, shows the ManagementNT process from Sophos taking up around 90 to 99 percent CPU. A uninstall / re-install of Sophos on the workstation seems to fix it temporarily, but then the problem returns on the same workstation.

Is there some way to figure out what is causing this? or is it a known bug. The problem is only affecting Windows XP SP3 machines, both physical and virtual. I'm trying to avoid making a phone call..

  • Hello Azurus,

if checking the agent logs (in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sophos\Remote Management System\3\Agent\Logs) doesn't give a hint what's causing this it might be necessary to turn on tracing and to contact - horrors - Support.
