Restart needed after updates today 13:15 GMT

Did I miss an announcement?

With the updates for SAV 9.0.5 VDL4.55G around 15:15 local (13:15 GMT) the clients show "Restart needed" (requested by both SAV and SCF).  On some machines a pop-up warned that on-access scanning is disabled (which after a few minutes went away) and the logs indicate that the install took a significant amount of time. Also the firewall service was stopped and did not automatically restart.

  • Thanks, Sandy

The Sophos Antivirus logs are gone from the %TEMP% directory (at that time it did not occur to me to keep them) but I've found a Sophos Anti-Virus Uninstall log from about 15 minutes later - and this states that it uninstalled SAV9.5! Which - although it explains the restart message - is even more mystifying as I neither touched the Recommended subscription nor the updating policy.

I did delete some unnecessary subscriptions at this time and played with adding a SAV9.5 subscription. There was a SUM copy error  involving the Recommended share after the clients apparently had fetched SAV9.5 - guess I just restarted SUM afterwards and then the share was corrected ... strange.

I've run SDU now (and also saved the SUM logs from time) and will call Support tomorrow - or do you have a better idea?
