The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI entry (#15105

What in the world does that mean?

I am trying to load a brand new copy of Enterprise Console 4.5 on a Windows 2008 server (not R2 - just 2008).  The setup program starts, asks me where I want to extract files to, then tells me it needs to install the Microsoft Installer 4.5 as a prerequesite.  I tell it yes, to install this.  A few seconds later, a popup window comes up with this text:

The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI entry (#15105).

This version of MSI must be installed before the installation can continue.

Setup will now terminate.

I have absolutely no clue what this means.  Any ideas on what is going on?

thanks

  • Hello Greg,

first of all you can always retry a failed install. If the sequence is the same then installing MSI 4.5 fails completely for whatever reason. If it commences with the error you quoted then MSI 4.5 didn't install correctly (usually there's also a hotfix which will be installed afterwards).

Install MSI 4.5 before re-attempting to install SEC4.5 - this is perhaps the fastest way. If manually installing MSI 4.5 fails then you have other problems tool.

  • Hmmm - As you suggested, I tried to manually download and install MSI 4.5.  This is a 2008 64 bit server and I tried to install every variant of the package I could find on the Microsoft download site.  All three said, "This update does not apply to your system."   These are the downloads I tried:

For Windows Vista, Windows Vista Service Pack 1 and Windows Server 2008:
    x86 Platform: Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-x86.msu
    x64 Platform: Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-x64.msu
    IA64 Platform: Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-ia64.msu

Looking on the server at c:\sec_45\ServerInstaller\pre-reqs\msi, I see several files.   One file named Windows6.0-KB958655-v2-x64.msu looks relevant.  The Microsoft update site says this is an update to MSI 4.5.  Installing the hotfix by hand - the hotfix  install runs to completion and the server reboots.

After the reboot, now the Enterprise Console install seems happy with the prerequisites it needs.  So the problem must have been that hotfix install.   I wonder why that hotfix install blows up when run from the Enterprise Console install?

    thanks

  • I have the exact same problem, however I am running Win 2k8 32bit.

Did anyone find a solution to this?

    Cheers

  • The best I could come up with was, something went wrong installing that required Microsoft hotfix to the Windows installer package when run as part of the SEC install.  What went wrong with that prequisite install?  No clue.  But installing the Microsoft hotfix by hand ran to completion and then the problem went away when I tried the SEC install again.  I didn't chase the problem any farther after that.
