Sophos Enterprise Console: Not allowing to get in Sophos Download account details

Dear All, I was installing the Sophos Enterprise Console (Ver: 4.5.1.0) in a new win 2k3 STD Server. Installation was fine and started the cosole for first time, for some reason its not accepting the User Credentials for download. Please see the below error in quote. "Could not contact the server. Check that the details are correct, and that there is not a problem with the network". Did the update server connectivity test between mine and these (dci.sophosupd.com, d1.sophosupd.com, d2.sophosupd.com) and it was fine (Success). Anyone has any idea what it could stopping me? Regards Sijo

  • Hi,

    I would suggest connecting to the SUM interface and see what it's doing, it might give more insight into the problem.  On the machine running SUM, if you create the key:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos\UpdateManager\Security]
    "LogonKey"="pass"

    pass can be any string. Then using Telnet, e.g.:
    telnet 127.0.0.1 51234
    It will prompt you for the password, in this case "pass" and then connect you to SUM so you can see what it's doing when you enter the em username and password and click OK.

    Maybe that will make things clearer, if not maybe post the text you see in the telnet session here.

    Regards,
    Jak
