Auto updates

I have some machines that aren't on the network and I need them to go out to the internet and get updates. What is the HTTP address for sophos' update site?

  • HI,

    When you install using the standalone installer of SAV, the option is listed as "Sophos".  If you have a managed install you can declare the secondary location in the SEC policy to be "Sophos" so you never really see the URL.

    However when the policy gets to the client:

    \ProgramData\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Config\iconn.cfg

    is configured in the relevant primary or seconday location section to be:

    UseSophos = 1

    So "http://es-web.sophos.com/update/" should be the address, however that is only part of it.  When AutoUpdate updates it appends on a string from the file:
    \ProgramData\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Config\TopLevelCatalogue.dat
    This file should contain the line:
    sdds.esc95
    on a machine which is configured to download 9.5 versions.
    Hope this helps,
    Jak
