ETA for EC4 Support on Windows Server 2008 R2

Hi,

Is there any ETA on when we can expect to see a version of Sophos Enterprise Console that supports installation on Windows Server 2008 R2 ?

The R2 has been released for around 6 months now, but I just grabbed the latest EC4 only to find it says sorry I can't install as Windows Server 2008 R2 isn't a supported OS :(

Cheers!

  • Hi Roy,

i found work around and it is relay running with Windows 2008 R2 standard perfectly.

But note that this may not recommended way.

    first run the setup.msi ....

if its fails, right click on it and server installer  --> go to compatibility setting and set it to windows 2003

then you would be able to run.

but in middle of setup you will get a error relating to SUM --> click "ok" and continue..

after complete setup, escape the console settings and --> find the SUM.msi installer and set the compatibility to windows 2003 and run.

you will be able to complete the setup and enjoy the console ..  reply me with results.

  • Hi Manjula

Thank you for your post , happy to hear the issue has been resolved with this Sophos unsupported workaround.

  • I know this is an old post, but do you recall if you were using v4.0 or v4.0.2 if the installer?

  • Official support for Windows Server 2008 R2 is included with Endpoint Security and Control 9.5 released last year which includes Enterprise Console 4.5, unexpected behaviour may occur with earlier releases of Enterprise Console on this platform.

I would recommend messaging DilanManjula directly for further assistance.
