Troj/ByteVer-G

Sophos detected Troj/ByteVer-G and the only action available is move or delete. Delete failed.

How do I get rid of this Trojan?

Thanks all!

  • Hi,

Firstly I would suggest running a full scan to check there is nothing else on the machine.  Once complete, open the Quarantine manager and check that there aren't other viruses found and that the record for Troj/ByteVer-G doesn't have multiple components.

Once you have the path to the file associated with Troj/ByteVer-G or possibly files, one method worth a try in the fist instance would be to boot into Windows Safe Mode with Command prompt as per:

I would then suggest with a command prompt that you can just delete the file using the command:

    DEL [filenameandpath]

If there are multiple files you could always use the Sophos command line scanner (SAV32CLI.exe) from Windows Safe Mode with command prompt to run a scan with that action set to delete.  If you're in anyway unsure about if this is a file or files you should be deleting I would suggest calling support for a quick check but hopefully you recognise that any files that have been detected can just be removed.

Note: You can probably jump to 5b if it's just a trojan.
