SEC 4.5 Update manager stating "Software Delivery Failed"

I have entered correct sources, subscriptions etc, checked the shares, disabled SUM service and deleted CIDS and Warehouse, i have dropped the old sophos3 database etc, nothing seems to be working. After several hours of knowledgebase scanning and googling, i gave in and signed up on here!

Basically when i attempt to update my update manager, it downloads binaries, and the warehouse folder populates fine, but it still says Last Updated: Never and it initially says Threat detection data update failed, then after approx 10-20 seconds that changes to "Software Delivery Failed".

Now, ive set this up in the same envinronment, on almost identical servers, and whenever ive experienced this issue if tried the disable SUM, delete cids/warehouse, enable sum, try again method, which 9 times out of 10 has done the trick.

I have also disabled simple file sharing, let ports 8192 etc through the firewall, even turned the firewall off...

This is slowly starting to irritate me haha.

Any help would be much appreciated.

  • I checked through it, and something sprung to mind.

The sophos update manager updates from an external source, not from sophos, and i had ticked in recomendations to download updates for NT workstations as well as xp....

The organisation we get these updates from dont support NT >_<.

Unticked and the binaries downloaded fine.

It was obviously downloading the xp updates, rolling out those IDE's, but hanging on NT because we werent authorised to download them.

Anyhoo. All Sorted. :). Appreciate your time.
