Pushing out client to Remote PC's with Windows Firewall

Hi All,

We have purchased the Sophos management and client insalls recently and need to get them pushed out to our sites fairly quickly. The issue we have is that we have 70 sites which may have up to 10 pc's all of which are on our private network but not on our domain. The vast majority of them have Windows firewall active which we need to get the staff on that end to manually disable when we need to connect in.

Is there a way we can get the management console to push out the client to all the pc's without having to manually disable windows firewall on every machine?

Thanks guys!

  • Hello Evan,

while one understandably wishes that "benevolent" software should find a way to spread throughout the network - thinking twice one probably doesn't want that it is possible. Seen from the remote client the management server is just another computer on the network. To administratively access a client a minimum of requirements must be met - if you can't connect at all there is (and should be) nothing you can do from "outside".
