I assume this is due to the web scanning (BHO) component of Sophos and therefore only happens when using Internet Explorer?
As two tests, can you try:
1. Using a different browser, such as Chrome, Firefox, Opera, etc...
2. Disabling the Sophos BHO from within Internet Explorer. You can find the option under "Tools" - "Manage Add-ons".
Do either of these help?
Also, what version of Sophos are you using, 9.5?
