Sophos on Windows 7

I have a new additional PC on our network, and want to push out the Sophos AV, the control centre is telling me that it cant install on a unknown OS.

I then followed these steps:

To protect new operating systems:

  1. In the left pane, under Configuration, click Configure updating.
  2. In the Configure updating dialog box, on the Software tab, select the operating system or systems that you want to protect.
  3. Return to the Sophos Control Center main window. On the Actions menu, click Update now.
  4. Go to each computer of the new type and install the software. For information on how to install manually, see the Sophos Control Center Startup guide. (Incidentally, I cant find the Startup Guide).

Anyone got any ideas ? How do I install Sophos manually ?

  • Hello Mick_Dundee,

the docs can be found here (in particular for SCC 4.0 and SCC 4.1). Most likely SCC can't determine the OS version due to some setting on the Win7 computer. On SCC the setup.exe location is, I think, still \\[server name]\sophosUpdate\CIDs\Sxxx\EECSXP (SAVSCFXP is used by SEC)
