New Install instead of upgrade

Hi

I am currently running Enterprise console 3.1 with 20 clients on a server which has no room left to upgrade.

I wish to insall Enterprise console 4.5 on a different server, recreate policies etc then re-protect the clients from the new server. Once clients moved I then want to remove Enterprise console from the old server and just have it as a protected client.

Are there any notes / best practices that I can follow, or gotchas that I need to be aware of, seems only to be notes for upgrades or migrations.

Thanks in advance

  • Hello slipperee,

the most important thing are the certificates (see section 6.1.1 in the SEC 4 migration guide, it applies also to SEC3). This way you will be able to either successfully re-protect and manage your clients or "move" them to the new server (see for example

    • Hi Slipperee

From the description you give the only thing you would really need to keep from the old server to the new is the Certificate keys.

      Take a registry export of:

      hkey_local_machine\software\sophos\certification manager\

Import these into the new server (if the new server is 64bit the new key path is hkey_local_machine\software\wow6432node\sophos\certification manager\ and you will need to edit the export before importing)

Install on the new server and find the clients and protect.
