Sophos Protection Disabled

Getting message over Sophos icon right-bottom saying "Sophos protection disabled." Cannot find how to "enable" it.  Thanks.

  • HI,

If you open up SAV by right clicking on the shield and choose "Open Sophos Endpoint Security and Control", what status does it have in the top left Status window:

    On-access scanning: Enabled | Disabled ?

    Firewall: Enabled | Disabled ?

    etc..

The other test worth doing is to launch "Windows Task Manager" (TaskMgr.exe), in the process list "End Process" Almon.exe.  Then mouse over the system tray icon to force a repaint of the system tray by Windows and the shield should disappear.   If you then run from Start -> Run for example:

    \Program Files (x86)\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Almon.exe

    or

    \Program Files\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Almon.exe

This will re-launch the shield, if you move over it again, does it still display the same warning?  This will guarantee a refresh of the state at least.

    Regards,

    Jak

  • HI,

What does the status say in the top left corner of SAV if you open the interface?

    I.e.

    On-Access Scanning: Enabled | Disabled | Unknown?

Firewall: Enabled | Disabled | Unknown

Is the Sophos Anti-Virus Service running?  (start - run - services.msc)  Are all Sophos Services started?

How much memory is the SAVService Process using? (start - run - taskmgr.exe) (Click "Show Processes for all users" if required)

Are there any errors in the updating logs at the point where it installs/updates?

    Regards,

    Jak
