Problem with exclusions

Question

I'm trying to implement Microsoft's solutions as listed in http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;822158.

However, when I try to enter an exclusion such as "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Datastore\Logs\Res*.log" Sophos comes back with "Invalid exclusion entered". What's the problem?

The wildcard * can be used only in a filename or extension, in the form [filename].* or   *.[extension]. For example, file*.txt, file.txt* and file.*txt are invalid.   You could use the question mark (?) symbol: http://www.sophos.com/sophos/docs/eng/manuals/sec_45_heng.pdf, p.98,  18.20   Items that can be excluded from scanning   :7131
