  • Hi,

I would suggest reinstalling the console on the server again :) However, if this is not possible you are sort of in a server migration situation.  In which case:

is going to be worth a read.

As long as you have the certauthstore registry key on the initial server you can export that, import it on the new server in the right location BEFORE installing SEC 4.5 on that, doing so will help ensure that RMS can continue to function without certification errors.

Hopefully you still have the SOPHOS45 database.  I would suggest taking a backup of SOPHOS45 if it's still attached to a SQL instance.  You don't say if SQL is on the same machine or if a remote SQL was in use. It will make it easier if you were using a remote SQL which can still be used as that is one less role to move.

Hopefully the distribution points still exist that the clients are point to, as you will be able to use a custom mrinit.conf in the RMS sub directory of the CID to be able to point all the clients at the new server as I'm assuming the new server has a differnt name and IP address.  This article describes the way you can use a custom mrinit.conf:

Hopefully the secret store which contains the passwords used in the system is also still on the machine, and you can use exportprivatestore (as mentioned in the pdf migration guide above) to export these to an XML file in order to re-import them on the new server.

As this is quite a tricky I would suggest calling Support to verify the steps you need to take or if you have any questions but it is worth reading those articles first so you know what to expect.

    I hope this is useful,

    Jak
