Installing Update Manager on Win 2008 R2

Is it possible to install an Update Manager on windows 2008 R2? When I try it tells me "Windows 2008 R2 Standard is not supported", but I'm just wondering if there is an update or workaround for it yet as we have only R2 in one of our sites on which to install it, and will very soon have the same situation in other sites.

  • Hello Mark,

I understand that it's supported in 4.5/9.5 (scheduled June). It is unsupported so don't do it.

In parallel universe another me has done an unsupported install of a secondary SUM on Windows 7 using Program Compatibility and he still thinks it worked and didn't break anything. He hasn't tried it on 2008 though.

    Have I said it's unsupporterd?

  • Thanks for the reply. Did you say unsupported? :smileyhappy:

Just as well we only have 1 site in trouble so far then eh?
