00000031 Installation involves creating a scheduled task error

I am trying to push Sophos out to all my cleint Pcs but get the following error on about 20 % of them

00000031  Installation involves creating a scheduled task on the computer. This requires the default admin share (called C$) to be accessible.

I have checked they all have remote regsitry service running and can confirm all have the default c$ share. All these machines were running an old version of Sophos until very recenetly when I upgraded to Endpoint

Has anyone else experienced this problem

Thanks

Nat

  • Hi Nat

    Welcome to Sophos Talk.

There are a few requirements for automatic deployment.

You can have a look at the following knowledgebase article:
    http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/article/12606.html

In the scenario you mentioned, i would have a look at the task scheduler service.
Additionally ensure the account you are using in the protect computers wizard has rights.

(Test it by logging on to one of the machines as the user in the wizard, Create a scheduler task to open notepad and see if it works)

It shouldn’’’’t really matter if it is an upgrade or new install.
You can as well check the event viewer for error codes, or the TEMP directory for log files.

Might add some more insight to the deployment.
