fresh install EC4.5 besides EC3.1 in Windows Domain

Hi

I hope our question in not as special as I read in other threads so far.

We are planning a fresh installation of EC4.5 on a new server 2008R2 x64. We have an existing installation of EC3.1 on W2KSP4 that we don't want to migrate. Both server are DCs in an AD-Domian. Is there a Problem in installing 4.5 besides 3.1 and deploy ES to all the PCs/laps/servers with the new console?

What about AD-Users created by the old and the new install?

Do we need to shut down Services on the old server?

Do you have any tips for us?

    Hello Ilja,

    I wouldn't use a DC if possible (especially not with a local database).

    There's no real problem running them side-by-side (even sync'ing with automatic protection shouldn't result in the two SECs fighting for the clients). If you export/import the Certification Manager keys before install of SEC4.5 you can "move" the clients without the need to reprotect them from the new console.

    I didn't install SEC on DCs - don't think there will be a problem with AD users/groups but I can't say for sure.

    Thank you for your Reply. Sophos support has already solved our problem. First we had to uninstall the old EC because in case of deinstallation after the fresh install we would have had deleted the AD-Users we further needed. No trick but just a logical consequence.
