problem with SQL2008 stopping 4.5 installing

Failing at the first hurdle!   I can't get 4.5 installed, well its the SQL2008 portion of the install that's causing a problem and it bombs out the 4.5 install part way through.  There is a mention of the issue in the release notes but concerning w2k8r2 I've tried on both w2k8 and w2k8r2 and get the same issue.  SQL2008 seems to install but the sophos instance won't start and errors with error 2148081668 (0x80092004)

    got this to work but only by installing sql2008 and selecting the mssqlserver instance rather than letting the install create the sophos instance. Shouldn't be a problem as this is a test box the production will be installed on a full fat sql2005 box
