Sophos 9 not updating to 9.5

Hi,

we have end point but due to the way our servers are spread(over various customers different VPN) we usually just update over the net via sophos.

However the vast majority of servers have not updated since 5th January. I know that there is a 9.5 upgrade, but I thought this was automatic? and I thought the definition files would still be updated on 9 until march?

How can I get all our servers to upgrade to 9.5 automatically as I assumes this was what was planned to happen anyway, currently I have 150 servers spread across the country that are stuck on 5th January definition files, and the update checker says there are no updates to be applied.

Hi,

As a test on one of the machines, the easiest way I've found of upgrading a standalone machine updating from Sophos is to edit the file:

C:\Program Files\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Config\TopLevelCatalogue.dat

(Adjust to %Programdata% for Vista+)

and change the line from:

sdds.esc9

to:

sdds.esc95

save the file and initiate an update. Maybe that technique could help you?

Cheers bussy that seems to work, its alot easier than having to log onto sophos site and download the package manually.
no idea why sophos couldnt get this to be done automatically.
