CID on a Netware Drive

Hello,

I am trying to get my SUM to put the Downloaded Binary packages onto a mapped drive on a Novell Netware Server.  But no matter what I do I get the "Software Delivery Failed" error.  I check the details and I get :

Unable to write to the ditribution location \\Server\CID for softwae subscripton Recommended.

Can anybody assist me?

Thanks,

Troy

  • Troy,

I'm no expert, infact we're having lots of problems with our own rollout, but I would check to see if the Novell account you created for updating has the appropriate rights to the destination folder.

  • Same here, can't get it to write to a CID on any Novell server. It's really a big problem.  Tried the SophosUpdateMgr user that has been added tot the machine, admin-accounts, old EmLibUser1 account... nothing =/

  • Hi,

This may or may not be useful but if you connect to the SUM interface and see what it's doing it might give more insight into the problem.  On the machine running SUM, if you create the key:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sophos\UpdateManager\Security]

    "LogonKey"="pass"

pass can be any string. Then using Telnet, e.g.:
    telnet 127.0.0.1 51234
If will prompt you for the password, in this case "pass" and then connect you to SUM so you can see what it's doing.
I noticed this in the Sophos Agent logs:
I SDDMA: Logon key written successfully.
    I SDDMA: Logon key sent.
    I SDDMA: Socket connection authenticated.
I SDDMA: The adapter is connected to SDDM.
And used Process Monitor, from there I saw the key being written and removed, so it's a one time random password.
If you force the Update, hopefully you'll see more in the trace.
    Good luck.
